Keeping it Local Cookbook
Earlier in the year we helped to launch a small cookbook to raise money for Cancer Council Queensland. We have been delighted with the response to the book which contains stories and recipes from many of the producers on our tours.
Each business shared a favourite recipe and picture to be collated and provide visitors and locals with a range of interesting culinary ideas demonstrating the diversity of produce and beverages produced in our region.
Recipes include sweet potato ice cream from farmer Linda at Windhum Farms, sourdough cinnamon scrolls from baker Rick at The Pocket Storehouse, fig and walnut salad from the Emerick family at Alloway Farm Market, zucchini muffins from farmer Andrew at Marto farms, Janelle's secret nutty caramel slice from Macadamia's Australia, lime tea biscuits from Linda at Bundy Limes, Eton Mess from Tina at Tinaberries strawberry and passionfruit farm, choc chai orange and blueberry breakie in a jar from Lonnie's Chai and roasted butter beans with sage and almonds from Dave and Meg at Rosengal Bean Farm, Queensland.
There are even a couple of sneaky recipes from Kalki Moon Distilling and Brewing Company, Ohana Cider House and Bundaberg Rum.
The books have been reprinted and are still available in many outlets around Bundaberg including Alloway Farm Market, Macadamias Australia, Bundaberg Tourism's Visitor Information Centres in Bundaberg, Gin Gin and Childers as well as the Cancer Council Queensland office in Woongarra Street, Bundaberg.
The Cookbooks cost just $5 and all proceeds go directly to Cancer Council Queensland.
