A Moore-ish Tour commences at 12.30pm and finishes at 5pm. It give you an opportunity to experience an afternoon on the north side of Bundaberg visiting farms, meeting farmers for a behind the scenes tour which also includes a stop at Bundy Chop Shop.
The soil varies considerably across the undulating farm landscape, although there is a predominance of sandy loam soil in the Gooburrum area. Macadamias, sweet potatoes, sugar cane, beans, tomatoes, Tahitian Limes, strawberries, mangoes, lettuces and herbs, among other crops, are all grown in this area as well as beautiful roses and gerberas.
This farm & butcher tour starts with a visit to a prominent local butcher just past the Botanical Gardens at Bundy Chop Shop. Suzie will introduce you to Rick and his team who are highly regarded by local restaurants, cafés and residents for their beautifully smoked small goods. Once inside, the aroma of the smoker permeates the entire shop and you won’t leave empty-handed. On the north side you will meet passionate food producers and taste produce throughout the afternoon. A picnic at the farm is a highlight prepared using ingredients sourced directly from growers in the Bundaberg region. A Moore-ish Tour would not be complete without a visit to Bundaberg Roses, for a sneak peek inside the shade houses.
