This tour has been designed to surprise and delight foodies! We wanted to introduce you to some local characters on the farms, give you a taste for the region as well as delight you with lunch. To top off the morning, you can relax among friends, indulge in local seafood and enjoy a glass of wine (or a local beer!) on the beautiful verandah at Grunske's by the River. The non seafood options at Grunske's are just as good! This tour commences at 9am and finishes at 1.00pm.
Although similar crops grow on both sides of the river in the Bundaberg area the soil is quite different. Around the Hummock the landscape is like a patchwork with rich, red volcano soil contrasting against the pale green of sugar cane and the dark green macadamia trees.
Explore the agricultural region of Bundaberg, meet food producers at working farms and enjoy lunch at Grunske's by the River. We start with a behind the scenes tour at the seafood market before exploring the diversity of produce grown in the region such as dragonfruit, ginger, tomatoes, strawberries, macadamias and sweet potatoes, depending on the season. You will enjoy espresso coffee roasted in house at Alloway Farm Market served with a beautiful morning tea showcasing local produce.
